EXTRA CREDIT BOOK REVIEW

"Ashes of Roses"
Ive never had migrated to another place but Rose had. So I don't know how it feels. By reading Ashes of Roses it gave me a great view of how Rose first came to America. She wasn't happy about it but she had to.Rose had to look for a job because she needed to maintain her family in good conditions. She had a hard time to go get used to something that she is not used to like working in a factory thats something she didn't do in her hometown.

Rose was an immigrant to the United States. She was forced to come with some of her family. She was in a poor neighborhood were she didn't accept. She started looking for a job. Most of those jobs were more for adult so they didn't accept her. She had finally found a job in a factory. Only her knew she had that job but one she had told her family, it went into a disaster. They thought she was to young to be looking for a job, and that they're not going to accept her decision. But no one in the family as doing anything to get money. Rose didnt have another choice but to get into the factory job so her family had to accept that.

Rose got that job in the factory. She wasn't that of the decision of working but she had to. One of those reasons was because she didn't want to be poor and her family wasn't doing anything to get money plus one of her family memebers is a young girl who thought that for coming over to the Unites States she thought she couldve made her own decision and her life on her own. But that didn't happen. The second reason why she had to work is because even though she had a job and everything its wasn't that much money for her and her family. I bet only nine-dollars I can afford on a day of chores but neither she was pleased with that . If I were to be in her place I would've done the exact same thing as her because if my family wasn't working and I were to be the only one who had to work then fine I would work but something I wouldn't agree is sharing all that money because if they were to help me they should at least get a job to, to help out. But she had to share it because of her had to be in good conditions .

Rose is the reason I keep on reading this book, the reason I do is because she is a great person on how shes a great when it comes to her family but can also disagree and agree on stuff she is not cool with. She has a good personality but when it comes to things she needs to do se has to do it. I like the way she is.

Theres something I saw in Rose; Rose didnt like being there because she knew that wasnt her kind of place but even thought her family thought differently she just had to live that way.

Immigration Project Reflection

Immigration Reflection:

“Ashes of Roses” by Mary Jane Auch. This book was chosen by me and yes I really enjoyed it I was comfortable with it at the beginning. My Lit Circle group members were Ebonie,Cristina, Haleigh and myself. Something that I really liked about this reading group was that we got to share ideas even though it wasn't face to face. I believe that sharing ideas with others who reads the same book as you and share ideas with one another can really help you get a better understanding what the book is about. Even though you don't understand something in the book you can always ask people in your group members to help you out and thats what we did for example, there was one time that I was reading this book and even though I was rereading it I still wouldn't understand it, so then I decided to put up a post and say what I didn't understand from the book. So they helped me out. I had learned to communicate with others even though we don't agree in most of the things we say but we make it all to a solution.

Theres many ways to communicate with others like the way we did with blogs. I think it was a good idea but something I would've like better if we did a meeting where everyone is there like in a circle everyone sitting down. I didn't really enjoyed having to do blogs even though we didn't have time to make lit circle meetings. Lit Circle meetings would've been better because in that way you can see peoples reaction to something for example I would've like to see how one of my group members reacted when Rose went out to look for a job and her family didn't agree because they thought that she was too young to work, but Rose did it any ways because she had to raise money to keep her family in good conditions. I would've liked to see her face if she either felt sad, or emotional because Rose couldn't get a job. The bloggin organizing was great because you got to understand depending on the order that it was for example like at beginning type up the quote then why you chose it so then you get to ask a question too see if they really understand what the group member really wrote. The reason blogs weren't my favorite communication with my group members was because I wasn't at home most of day, I would always be at some place I didn't even get a chance to do my homework. Sense the blog post was due at 9 O'clock I had like a couple of minutes left to work on the blog and so I would start whining to my mom. I only got to do like 2 or 3 post and that was it. So I didn't get as much reading either but I still had to read when I was bored or while I was in the car. Things like this got my grade to go down which really affected my overall grade.

Art & Literature:

Well my painting just shows two hands and that was my option because when I read that Rose got the job in the factory she only got paid 9 dollars and which wasn't fair so I wanted other people to feel the difference getting payed here and getting paid a place different. There was a big connection between that because I got that from part of the book so I just thought to make it 2 hands because I really cant draw a factory or people. So basically, the payer is mostly like the manager and the other hand shows getting the money. that money shows that is one 9 dollar bill.I thought that that would. This painting that I made,; on my opinion it needs more work because when I started doing it I felt I was doing really good but then it came to finishing another day so the paint I mixed the first time didn't come out mixed like the second time or the third time. The problem I had was getting pain brushes because sense theres a lot of people need same ones and others don't I had gotten a big/medium brush. Well something I really got frustrated was that I needed more time and no I couldn't come out in the morning because I live far and no I couldn't stay after school because I had stuff to do.

Well from reading the book and having to make a painting out of it I thought it was a good idea because it is a good way to share with others what you most understood about the book or to be able to share with others a better idea of what a book cover should look like or maybe pain out a part that shocked you/etc. So I really had a good time with this even thought my painting didn't come out as good as I could've expected.

Interview Process:
Felipa, yes Vincents grandma was my interviewer. She is from The Philippines she was sort of hard to interview sense she really never answered the phone because she said she wasn't there a couple of times in the beginning. I think that my interviewer could've just been easier to talk too but sometimes she didn't want to so I had to call her later but then she wouldn't answer the phone it wasn't as smooth as I would've expected but sometimes I felt she confuse herself . It wasnt that easy to contact her.
Well having to interview an immigrant is easy just as if you were talking to someone but once you start getting into the detail and talk about how old was she or she when he first came to America is sort of getting difficult in the way because in my opinion I feel like its their personal stuff.
